Reflections on Watching The Age of Youth

On June 28, I was invited to participate in the Party branch activity of the company and watch the youth-themed drama The Age of Youth together with Party members.

This was not only a review of history, but also a profound reflection on our own values and aspirations. After watching the drama, I would like to share several thoughts with everyone.

Setting Aspirations

Some people regard “having a girlfriend as beautiful as a celebrity” as their life aspiration; some take “becoming an entrepreneur and earning great wealth” as their goal; while others place their hopes on “having their children admitted to top universities such as Tsinghua University or Peking University.”

These aspirations may not be wrong, but they often remain within the scope of the “individual self.” A truly meaningful aspiration should transcend personal interests and focus on the contribution one can make to the country and society.

The reason Mao Zedong became a great figure can be traced back to the poem he wrote at the age of 17:

“Leaving my hometown to pursue my aspirations,

I will not return until I achieve my goals.

Why worry about where my bones are buried?

Every place under heaven can be my home.”

From these lines, we can see the ambition and broad vision of young Mao Zedong — his determination to save China and resist foreign aggression.

At the beginning of the 20th century, China faced a critical historical period. The Qing government signed a series of unequal treaties, including the Boxer Protocol, which brought enormous national humiliation and heavy financial burdens. The country was truly at a moment of crisis.

It was precisely this difficult situation that inspired a group of passionate young people from Hunan, including Mao Zedong, Cai Hesen, Xu Teli, and Li Lisan. Coming from Hunan First Normal School in Changsha, they shared a common mission: saving the nation and seeking a path forward. Together, they fought against the forces that hindered China’s development at that time.

As an ancient saying goes, “Where there is a will, there is a way.” A strong aspiration gives people the strength to overcome difficulties. Those who achieve nothing are often not because they lack ability or opportunities, but because they lack a firm purpose.

This is similar to the Buddhist concept of “making a great vow.” Even if the goal is as simple as maintaining the habit of visiting temples every year, persistence itself can gradually transform a person’s life.

In reality, many people struggle to maintain habits such as running because they are often trapped by excuses like “I cannot wake up early” or “I do not want to sweat.” The deeper reason is that they have not truly established a clear determination.

Therefore, setting aspirations is not merely a phrase written on a screen. It represents a deeper commitment, direction, and belief in life.

Awakening Others

Realizing that individual strength was limited, Mao Zedong posted a “Call for Like-Minded Friends” notice at the entrance of Changsha Girls’ Normal School, seeking people who shared the same aspirations. Cai Hesen, Cai Chang, Xiang Jingyu, and others responded to his call and frequently gathered at the Cai family residence on Xinmin Road for discussions and exchanges.

This initially informal group gradually developed a shared vision of saving the nation through New Democracy through continuous discussions and exchanges. These awakened individuals were not satisfied with self-enlightenment alone; they were also committed to spreading new ideas. They founded the magazine New Youth, financed the printing themselves, and organized students to distribute it in order to awaken the public.

RAMON has already gone through the stage of “setting a great aspiration.” As written on the wall of our office building:

“Here, we build an organization and create an environment that attracts a group of like-minded people. We encourage them to bravely explore the unknown, devote themselves wholeheartedly to technological innovation, experience the pride of being a leader, and enjoy the happiness brought by work. At the same time, we shoulder our mission — giving back to society through real products, revitalizing China through original technologies, and integrating ourselves into the world.”

Since its establishment in 1993, RAMON has always upheld the aspiration of serving the nation. In an era when key technologies were monopolized by foreign companies, we achieved technological breakthroughs in the field of continuous casting through independent research and development. We helped China break away from dependence on imported equipment and even achieved technology exports, contributing to national development in this silent technological battle.

However, we are now facing new challenges: it is not enough for only a few people to lead the way. Our Party members must be the first to awaken, master information technology and intelligent manufacturing technologies, broaden their vision, and promote our products with confidence.

At the same time, we must actively awaken others. Every department should take action: the Sales Department should inspire sales personnel, the Organization Department should motivate R&D and technical staff, and the Marketing Department should awaken everyone through immersive communication and promotion.

We must not view technological innovation and helping customers achieve digital and intelligent upgrades merely as a way to make profits. Instead, we must recognize that this is part of the great mission of “national rejuvenation” in the new era.

Dedication

As Party members, we must always remember the spirit of dedication. We should not only take the lead in making contributions but also inspire all employees to contribute together.

Looking back at history, when Yuan Shikai once demanded that students write articles promoting “Sino-Japanese friendship,” progressive students such as Mao Zedong firmly resisted despite facing threats from warlord agents.

This makes us reflect: in today’s seemingly peaceful era, if we were to face similar severe challenges, could our Party members stand up with the same courage?

In reality, the threats posed by imperialism and external powers have never disappeared. The United States continues to create tensions in the Taiwan Strait and the South China Sea, using countries such as the Philippines, Vietnam, and Japan to create conflicts. The Russia-Ukraine conflict and wars in the Middle East remind us that conflicts may break out at any time.

More covertly, infiltration by hostile forces has never stopped. The espionage activities, assassinations of nuclear experts, and coercion of executives to leak confidential information depicted in The Secret Battle reflect real-world situations.

If someone tried to lure us with money or threaten us through overseas family members, could we remain as unyielding as our predecessors and refuse to compromise even at the cost of our lives?

This is not an exaggeration. Today’s Party Day activity was not merely a movie viewing or a dinner gathering; it was a profound examination of our own beliefs:

When national sovereignty and dignity face challenges, can we stand firm? Can we dedicate ourselves with courage?

In conclusion, we must always remember these four key words:

Aspiration, Awakening, Inspiring Others, and Dedication.

We hope all Party members will maintain vitality and enthusiasm, keep the light in their eyes, and lead the company’s innovative development with high spirits and determination.

Only when RAMON becomes stronger can China become stronger.
