The RAMON BOF/EAF Slag Detection System utilizes state-of-the-art infrared imaging technology combined with unique analytical algorithms to detect in real time whether molten steel contains slag during the tapping process. It provides synchronized images along with audible and visual alerts or triggers the slag-blocking equipment, facilitating timely manual or automatic slag blocking or furnace lifting operations to minimize the amount of slag flowing from the converter into the ladle. In the production of clean steel, controlling slag discharge during tapping is a critical step in reducing slag content in the steel. It also minimizes the amount of residual steel left in the furnace due to the uncertainties of manual slag inspection, thereby improving steel purity, reducing the labor intensity of furnace operators, and increasing steel yield.
