The Management Seminar “Improving Efficiency Through Performance Management” Successfully Concluded by the Entrepreneur Branch of Wuhan University Changsha Alumni Association

On the afternoon of June 22, under the careful organization of the Secretariat of the Wuhan University Changsha Alumni Association, Dr. Tian Lu, President of the Wuhan University Changsha Alumni Association, delivered an insightful seminar titled “Improving Efficiency Through Performance Management” at the RAMON Company Conference Hall.

The event attracted four entrepreneur representatives, including Jiang Binge, Secretary-General of the Entrepreneur Circle of the Alliance of Prestigious Universities Outside Hunan Province, as well as more than ten alumni from the Wuhan University Changsha Alumni Association and its Entrepreneur Branch.

The seminar began under the hosting of Liu Jia, Secretary-General of the Wuhan University Changsha Alumni Association.

In his opening remarks, Secretary-General Liu Jia expressed his great pleasure in visiting RAMON and thanked President Tian for sharing his management experience.

He mentioned that many alumni were highly interested in the topic of “compensation management”, as they often encounter challenges related to salary adjustments during business operation and management.

In response to the needs of alumni, the Secretariat organized this seminar and hoped that President Tian’s theoretical knowledge and practical experience would provide valuable insights and inspiration for everyone.

Dr. Tian Lu’s In-Depth Analysis of Compensation Management

President Tian began the seminar with three philosophical questions:

“What is the significance of salary adjustment?”

“Should salaries be adjusted?”

“How should salaries be adjusted?”

These questions prompted deep reflection among the alumni present.

President Tian explained the four-stage management approach for salary adjustment:

Clarifying goals and vision;

Inspiring employees’ willingness;

Encouraging employees’ efforts;

Ensuring clear rewards and penalties.

He emphasized that business leaders should have clear plans for enterprise development, while employees should have clear personal development goals. A shared vision motivates employees to continuously strive forward, and management should establish clear reward and penalty mechanisms based on goal achievement.

Through effective compensation management, employers and employees can align their goals and grow together.

When discussing the establishment of salary adjustment rules, President Tian shared that the adjustment criteria should be based on a three-in-one system:

Performance, skills, and attitude.

He pointed out that performance is a measurable and critical indicator. Managers should continuously optimize compensation incentive systems to motivate employees’ greater potential and achieve better results. Skills require enterprises to improve employees’ capabilities through training and assessment. Attitude, however, is an even more important factor than methods and abilities. Attitude determines how far a person can go and how much value they can create.

Attitude can be divided into three levels: recognition, cooperation, and belief. President Tian also shared how these principles can be transformed into measurable formulas, such as “Performance = Willingness × Capability.” He explained that when evaluating employees, managers should not only focus on their abilities but also pay attention to their willingness and attitude. An employee with strong willingness but average ability can often proactively solve problems and create outstanding performance. By establishing salary adjustment rules, managers should focus on stimulating employees’ willingness and motivation.

Alumni Discussions and Insights Sharing

After the seminar, alumni actively discussed President Tian’s viewpoints and shared their own thoughts and experiences:

Liu Jia, Secretary-General of the Alumni Association

(Deputy General Manager of Hunan Yutai Energy Co., Ltd.)

I strongly agree with President Tian’s views on attitude. Although attitude is influenced by many subjective factors, human resources departments can improve employees’ attitudes and sense of recognition through refined management.

Zhang Xuebin, Secretary-General of the Entrepreneur Branch of the Alumni Association

(General Manager of Hunan Yutai Energy Co., Ltd.)

Recently, I have been thinking about enterprise development issues. Through President Tian’s seminar today, I gained a deeper understanding of the importance of human resources and administrative management. These factors play a crucial role in the long-term development of enterprises. President Tian’s sharing provided me with valuable ideas.

Jiang Binge, Secretary-General of the Entrepreneur Circle of the Alliance of Prestigious Universities Outside Hunan Province

(Board Member of Hunan Shangxing Technology Co., Ltd.)

President Tian’s seminar was highly inspiring. Previously, I mainly focused on performance and skills in management. Today’s seminar helped me realize that attitude is equally important. In the future, I will pay more attention to cultivating employees’ positive attitudes, which I believe will bring more vitality and innovation to the enterprise.

Alumnus Zhu Kefu

(Chairman of Jingxinyun [Hunan] Technology Co., Ltd.)

Through this seminar, I gained a deeper understanding of the importance of corporate strategic values. A clear and well-defined strategic value system can not only guide employee behavior but also improve the overall performance of an enterprise.

Alumna Chen Weiwei

(Deputy Director of the Enterprise Operation and Management Department of Hunan Lishui River Basin Hydropower Development Co., Ltd.)

I am responsible for performance evaluation in a state-owned enterprise and have always faced challenges in designing effective performance assessment systems. President Tian’s seminar helped me realize that, in addition to quantitative performance indicators, employee willingness and attitude should also be taken into consideration. This provided valuable guidance for optimizing our performance evaluation system.

Alumna Zhang Bingyao

(Shenzhen Shikongda Quantum Technology Co., Ltd.)

Personnel assessment is a key factor in improving efficiency. Through effective assessment, we can better understand employees, assign them suitable positions, improve satisfaction and work efficiency, and create greater value for the enterprise.

Other alumni, including Yan Fazi, Chairman of Hunan Taihe Energy Technology Co., Ltd., and Tan Xiaohui, Chief Partner of Asia-Pacific Pengsheng Tax Agents Firm Co., Ltd., also expressed that through the seminar and exchanges, they gained a deeper understanding of compensation management and acquired many practical management tools and approaches.
