Wuzhou Jinhai Stainless Steel Smart Factory Project

Case Introduction

Wuzhou Jinhai Stainless Steel Smart Factory Project

  • Standardized operations across data acquisition, smelting, and quality control
  • Significantly improved on-time production scheduling
  • Increased operational efficiency by over 87%
  • Generated annual value gains exceeding RMB 30 million
  • Achieved annual cost savings of RMB 1.76 million

Wuzhou Jinhai Stainless Steel Co., Ltd. was established in 2010 and is located in the Recycled Stainless Steel Industrial Park in Wuzhou, Guangxi. As a key industrial transfer project undertaken by the Wuzhou Municipal Government and a major industrial enterprise in Guangxi, the company has become one of the region's leading stainless steel manufacturers.

In 2023, Jinhai produced more than 900,000 tons of stainless steel products, generating annual revenue of RMB 9.1 billion and ranking 28th among the Top 100 Private Enterprises in Guangxi.

The steelmaking process at Jinhai Stainless Steel is highly complex, making production scheduling difficult and resulting in fluctuations in output and operational performance.

Process data relied heavily on paper-based records, leading to delayed information flow and limited visibility across production stages. In addition, manual scheduling was inefficient, creating an urgent need for an intelligent scheduling system to support model-driven and just-in-time production.

Solution

The project deployed 24 intelligent systems developed by RAMON, covering key production processes including medium-frequency furnaces, AOD furnaces, LF furnaces, continuous casting, and steelmaking operations.

The solution integrates Intelligent Slag Skimming, Bottom Argon Blowing, Intelligent Diagnostics, Intelligent Casting Platform, and Quality Inspection Systems. Through technological upgrades and automation-driven operations, the project standardized data acquisition, material preparation, smelting, and quality control processes, achieving the digital management goals of centralized expertise, integrated workflows, efficient collaboration, and comprehensive control.

Project Benefits
  • 01

Reduced Waste · Lower Costs · Improved Operational Performance · Enhanced Management Capabilities

After the implementation of the system, significant improvements were achieved in production efficiency, process cycle time reduction, waste reduction, cost optimization, operational performance, and management capabilities.

Average daily production increased by more than 10%. Unplanned tundish casting interruptions were eliminated, and casting speed interruptions were significantly reduced.

The continuous casting process achieved stable control of temperature, production rhythm, and casting speed, with significant improvements in schedule adherence. Issues such as casting delays and abnormal temperatures were effectively controlled.

The operation of refining furnaces, melting furnaces, and AOD furnaces became more organized, enabling long-term stable, orderly, and controllable production.

The comprehensive stabilization of key production parameters, including time, production rhythm, temperature, casting speed, and weight, improved process stability and strengthened coordination and efficiency among different production stages.

Production management became more confident and data-driven, enabling digital decision-making and intelligent production control.

The project increased operational efficiency by more than 87%, generated annual value gains exceeding RMB 30 million, optimized workforce allocation by 22 employees, and reduced annual operating costs by RMB 1.76 million.

The long-term economic benefits generated by the project far exceed the initial investment.
